Following are excerpts of activities reported by the Greene County sheriff’s office:
Monday, Aug. 3: At 2:01 am a deputy assisted with cattle out on Hwy 30 near J Ave west of Jefferson. At 7:34 pm Issiaha Keegel, 29, of Grand Junction was booked into the jail on charges of animal neglect with injury or death and animal abuse*.
Sunday, Aug. 2: Routine activity reported.
Saturday, Aug. 1: At 6:54 pm the sheriff, deputies, and a Jefferson police officer investigated a vehicle in the ditch on Oakland Ave near 222nd St east of Jefferson. The driver ran from the vehicle into the wooded area. The Greene County K-9 and deputies tracked the subject and placed him into custody. Brian Weltzin of Grand Junction was arrested for operating while intoxicated- second offense, driving while license revoked or denied, criminal mischief- second degree, and destructive acts on public lands or waters*. He was cited for failure to maintain control and failure to provide proof of financial liability – accident related, and open container*. He was later booked into the jail on the charges. At 10:27 pm Daniel Tasler, 35, of Jefferson was booked into the jail on charges of violation of probation, possession of marijuana- second offense, and possession of drug paraphernalia*.
*In all cases when a defendant has been charged, this is merely an accusation, and all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
